9 July 2000 Travis, I was faced with an embarrassment of riches yesterday. I was supposed to be working, but a fortuitous tree across a major power line and a loss of power shut the library three hours ahead of time. I raced for home with my copy of the new Evanovich mystery, and my very own copy of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, wondering all the time which one I would read first. But, there was Grumpuss, sitting on my couch waiting to be watched. I just made some coffee and stretched out and enjoyed him, not once, but twice, and to heck with Stephanie Plum and Harry. I don't have anything profound to say about the video (which is the one I bought, because I wanted to see you tell it), except that I just loved it, and all I could think about was how to get everyone I know to buy it also. It was so gently told, but gripping all the same. I purely loved the woodsy setting and your voice against it. Your use of language was beautiful. Grumpuss is something really special and every child deserves to experience it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good things in the large papers and plenty of appearances on TV shows to promote your work. Do you ever appear at book festivals, or such?
